The Town of Ledgeview has enacted a new ordinance allowing the use of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) on most Town roads. This summary highlights the key points of the ordinance for residents. Note: this does NOT pertain to golf carts.

What's allowed:

  • You can operate ATVs/UTVs on most Town streets. However, you cannot operate on County, State, and Federal Highways, designated areas, and roads listed in the ordinance (Ledgeview Rd. from Lone Oak to Creamery Rd., Swan Rd. from Dickinson Rd. to Heritage Rd.)
  • An ATV/UTV route map is available.

What's required:

  • Drivers must have a valid driver's license and obey all traffic laws.
  • Operators under 18 must wear a DOT-approved ATV/motorcycle helmet.
  • UTV operators and passengers must wear seatbelts.
  • ATVs/UTVs must be registered with the Wisconsin DNR and display proof of registration.
  • Liability insurance is required.
  • Must obey the posted speed limits.

Operating rules:

  • No operating ATVs/UTVs from sunset to sunrise except for permitted reasons.
  • No metal studded tires or tire chains allowed.
  • Headlights and taillights must be on during operation.
  • Sound restrictions apply to exhaust systems, radios, and additional lighting.

  • Violations may result in forfeitures as outlined in the ordinance.
